Which coffee table?

How to find the right coffee table for the living room…
Considerations:
* Love it?
* Useful?
* Suitable materials?
* Appropriate style?
In my home there are three possibilities of coffee table.
The first I bought with the sofas; it’s a rectangular ottoman in the same off-white fabric as the three seater and two seater. Not the most practical choice as it requires a rectangular tray on top to prevent coffee and wine stains ruining the material.
The second is a classical wooden drop-side coffee table. It’s made from wood in a similar colour to the storage unit and seems to soak up the light, making the space feel more intimate. The third is a large square metal frame, topped with glass. It’s contemporary and brings a freshness to the space. There’s a silver framed mirror nearby which echos the table shape and colours.
All the options could be improved upon:
a) the otttoman would benefit from storage inside
b) the wooden table has no storage either
c) the generous proportions of the metal and glass table encourage magazines and junk mail

These three styles and materials work in the eclectic setting, and it’s a space that functions well and feels wonderful. My question is, which would you select and why?

Thank you,
Betty
