What to look for when house-hunting

A relative is looking to buy a house. There are certain things on the List and she knows at first glance if a place will suit her.

As humans we crave shelter and a home in which to create good memories.  Requirements may include:

  • All day sun
  • Cleanliness
  • Spaciousness
  • Flowing room layout
  • Character
  • Good “bones”
  • Quiet setting
  • Safe neighbourhood
  • Pleasant outlook
  • Indoor/outdoor living

In addition to the number of rooms desired you may also want

  • A vegetable/flower garden
  • Somewhere for pets
  • Close proximity to work, shops, family or friends

Once you find the dream home, fitting your budget, there are some low-cost ways to improve your asset.

a) maintain and clean regularly inside and out

b) open the windows and let in fresh air and sunshine, on the days you’re home

c) nurture an indoor plant

d) upgrade the garden

Visually and emotionally a beautiful environment is satisfying; the value of your property is likely to increase as others are influenced by what they see.

Purchasing a home is an emotional and financial milestone, and a wonderful move if you’ve bought a property that, in realestate terms, ticks all the boxes.

Thank you,

Betty
