Post 13 Feng Shui for the garden

When  planning a garden layout or landscaping enhancement we suggest applying the principles of Feng Shui. This will improve the aesthetics or your property and bring additional positive energies to the occupants.

In a perfect world we would have a hill at the back (though most of us will have to settle for a tall hedge or fence). In front, flat land and water is the ideal. To to East keep trees and shrubs low so the early morning sun shines into your home. To the west taller deciduous trees will reduce summer heat and allow filtered sun in winter.  Each part of the garden should have balance and at least one of the five elements of fire, earth, metal, water, wood.

FIRE: eg fireplace, barbecue, lighting. The colours red, burgundy, hot pink. The shapes triangle or pyramid.

EARTH: eg stones, sand, clay, pottery. Colours brown, yellow, terracotta. Shapes flat or square.

METAL: eg steel, iron, aluminium, chrome, copper. Colours silver, grey, white. Shapes circles, half circles.

WATER: eg ponds, fountains, water features. Colours black, dark blue. Shapes irregular, free-flowing.

WOOD: eg plants, trees, shrubs. Colours green and grey-blues. Shapes tall and thin.

In addition to the above, positioned according to the Bagua,  “The Art of Placement” applied by a Feng Shui consultant will give you the best results.

Thank you,
