Lighting conditions for good sleep

With winter on its way I called my friend to ask about replacing some curtain linings. The current curtains are backed with thin cotton, so I’m looking for something mould resistant, darker and heavier.

Many of us have too much light in our bedrooms which can make it difficult to get a deep rejuvenating sleep. Light exposure prevents the release of melatonin which helps our sleep patterns and supports good health.

In order to have a dark room, close the blockout curtains, get rid of the digital clock radio and turn off any standby or night lights.

In the morning, if it’s still dark outside use full spectrum light bulbs and go outside at lunchtime for a dose of sunshine and vitamin D which will give you a positive boost and also make it easier for you to sleep well when you return to your bed in the evening.

So, I’m getting new curtain linings which will keep my room warmer and darker and help my sleep patterns and health. Because, as we know, when we don’t get a good nights sleep the day turns to custard.

Thank you,

Betty
