Curtains – unlined

Curtains can be sheer, unlined, lined or coated. Today we’ll discuss the benefits of nets, lace, organza or voile; the unlined fabrics found next to the window.
They are used for privacy and to reduce the impact of fading. Our ultraviolet light can damage carpets and fabrics so some form of protection is suggested particularly on north-facing windows.
A few products can be purchased with a transparent tape already fixed to the top and in some cases with lead weights on the bottom. They can be hung on a thin top-fix track, or if you’re economizing, on plastic coated wire inside the window frame. For an elegant solution a double track fixed above the window would hold the sheer on the thinner track closer to the glazing, and a regular curtain on the larger one.
Nets are being updated and replaced with the products mentioned above. A range of colours are available however white/off white/light cream is the hue which lets through all the healing light waves of daylight. By selecting a coloured sheer these benefits will be lost and the room will have the same feeling day and night.
All sheers placed near the glass have the added benefit of regulating the temperature between inside and outside.
