Bedding

Why should we consider our bedding choices? My answer is “Because you spend about one third of your life between the sheets”.

The products being discussed today include pillows, sheets, duvets and blankets.

The following tips will help with your next purchase:

* Always buy the best you can afford
* Natural fibres breathe so make organic cotton, linen, bamboo or hemp first on your list
* Covers and blankets of wool can be expensive although with careful handling they will last a lifetime
* If you prefer a duvet consider down, feather, wool or silk. When bedspreads are fashionable you can use your duvet underneath
* Pillows often contain dust mites, mould, fungi and bacteria. For the sake of your health place all bedding, pillows in particular, out in the sun regularly
* Write the purchase date on an inner label and replace the pillow if you can fold it in half, it’s badly stained or it’s old
* Without an electric blanket health and fire hazards will be minimised. Do not sleep with the blanket turned on

To slip into freshly laundered, sun dried sheets, is on my top ten list of pleasures. Is it the same for you?

Thank you,
Betty
